Prologue

Homecoming

Three years later 3262 Day 200

Riley and Damien's house

Riley's POV

"Mommy, Daddy, wake up! Today's the day!" I was shaken roughly by my son as he climbed onto the bed and he continued to shake me. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake—Whoa!"

I heard a thud, Damien and I shot up worried looks on our faces. "Ollie?!" I said concerned as I leaned over to see if he was okay.

Ollie looked up at us from between his legs looking excited. "First day of preschool!" He said as if nothing had happened.

Damien and I looked at each other for a moment then burst out laughing. Once we slowed to chuckles Damien flipped the covers as he got out of bed. "Come on Ollie; let's get your stuff ready while mommy makes breakfast." He said.

"Kay Daddy!" Ollie said rolling over to get on his feet. Once up he ran out of the room his tail wagging a mile a minute.

I got out of bed and hugged Damien. He kissed me, when we parted he said. "Morning."

"A good one too." I said smiling.

A half an hour later I was almost finished with breakfast when Ollie slid down the banister landing on his feet he beamed up at me. "Mommy!" He shouted as I looked up from the stove. He was wearing a small pair of gloves that opened at the cuffs. The cuffs had a line of blue and yellow trim. His shoes were red yellow and white with Velcro straps on the top. "Look at me! I'm lookin' like a big kid now right?"

I laughed. "You sure do!" He then turned his back to me to show me his backpack. It was blue with flames on the bottom. "I like the flames on your backpack honey." I said giggling.

Ollie blinked and turned as far as he could then started spinning. Once he stopped he laughed. "Yeah Daddy found it when he took me School shoppin'. Now I'll look really superfast just like Papa Sonic!" He laughed and began to run around the couch. Choo was napping on the top of the couch, when Ollie began running around Choo opened one eye and then tapped Ollie's head as he passed. Ollie looked up and smiled. "Oh no you don't!" Ollie said as Choo jumped down and Ollie began to chase him laughing.

Damien had come down as Ollie chased after Choo. Standing next to me he gave an amused grin. "Do you think he'll be able to keep still till recess?" He asked as we watched.

I continued watching Ollie and Choo for a few more seconds. Ollie hadn't inherited my speed which I was fine with. Damien wasn't sure if he had inherited our Chaos abilities. I had told him not to worry; he was young so we had time to see if anything would happen. I looked back at Damien a smirk on my face. "He won't last five minutes." I said returning to my cooking. "Yanno I've been thinking …" I said turning the bacon.

"What?" He asked snatching a piece of cooked bacon from the plate they were on.

"Do you think that Ollie might want to have a baby brother or sister?"

Damien looked at me with a surprised look. "Riley are you serious?" He asked. "I mean REALLY serious?"

I nodded as I placed the finished bacon on the plate. "Yeah, I know what it's like to be an only child for too long. I would like to have them closer in age." I then wrapped my arms around his waist. "I still have all of Ollie's baby clothes."

Damien sighed. "And if it's a girl?"

"Then you'll really go soft." I said with a smirk as he pouted. Zipping into the living room I scooped Ollie up and went into the kitchen. "Alright Ollie it's time for breakfast."

"Okay!"

After we had eaten I was kneeling down checking the straps on Ollie's backpack. Ollie huffed and folded his arms. "Mommy my backpack's fine." He said.

"Just double checking. Now, be on your very best behavior and we'll look into the windows to check on you." I said smiling as I ruffled his quills.

"Aw, mommy don't!" He whine his muzzle turning pink. "I'm a big kid now."

I looked down as I opened the door. "What? You're to grown up to—"

"Mommy?" Ollie pointed out the door.
